Date: 2-4 April 2004
Rose and I attended the Martell Grand National 2004, courtesy of her employers, Glory Days. Rose had a little bit of work to do, getting folk on and off the coach, but apart from that we had the weekend to ourselves.
We departed Friday morning and after a brief but large, petrol/air/breakfast stop at Asda, we headed off to Preston. We were staying in the Preston Marriot, just off the M6, it was an old convered Manor House and was quite grand and nice.
Blackpool
We got to the Hotel around lunchtime and realising that Blackpool was only fifteen miles away, we decided to spend the afternoon in the town of Rose's birth.

Aintree
On the day of the Grand National, we got a coach at 9am from Preston to Aintree (just outside Liverpool) and had a great day. Here is a brief summary of the day:
- Beer - good
- Weather - poor
- Crowds - busy
- Seating - none
- Food - expensive and shit
- Chat - top
Rose and I put a bet on most races of around a fiver. Ed picking no winners, Rose picking two. We won a total of around £120, one bet coming in with a win of £92.50 for a five pounds bet.

All in all, it was good and we would go again. next time though it would be good to have the following:
- More beer money
- More betting money
- Seats
- Our own food
- Nice weather
