Familiar Face
I have caught a little bit of BBC's The Apprentice (with Alan Sugar). The girl that got kicked out last night looked very familiar but I don't know why. Her name is Miranda.
Then I realised, it was the girl that appeared with me on Wheel Of Fortune (she was the one with the thong). A quick check of the two websites this morning, confirmed my hunch.

Malicious Phone Calls
I debated whether or not to mention this but in the end I thought I should. Someone might be able to help us and the Police with their enquiries. Some of the information I remember is all higgelty piggelty and I am sure I have forgotten stuff but the underlying theme and what happened is more or less correct:
- Phone Call 1 - 12:32am
- Rose, Jack and I are in bed. A woman calls asking
who is this? , where is it etc. It is clearly not a wrong number, she is trying to start a conversation. I tell her its 12:30am and hang up.
- Phone Call 2
- She calls back, this time Rose answers and goes nuts at her, telling her that her baby is in bed etc. etc. She tells Rose that
your man has been a naughty boy and that I have been having an affair . The woman (lets call her Psycho Bitch or PB for short) demands to speak to me. Rose hangs up.
- Phone Call 3 - lasts 8 minutes
- This time I speak to her and try to keep her on the line (too many movies) as Rose phones the Police/BT from her mobile. I try not to react to her and not let her think she is in control.
- She has sound effects that she keeps playing (police sirens, operator noises), for example she says
there is nothing you can do, I have blocked all outgoing calls from your house and then plays a sound effect.
- She threatens me, Rose (who for some reason she thought was my daughter) and Jack numerous times.
- She claimed to know where we lived and she was going to come get us.
- She kept calling Rose a
dirty bitch .
- She said she was going to
make our life hell .
- She claimed to be able to access our bank accounts and played computer sound effects
- Phone Call 4
- I pick up and hang up instantly, I then remove the phone from the wall.
What concerned me is that she was calm, cold and calculated and seemed to be getting pleasure from doing this. She didn't seem to actually know us (I hope) as she was always fishing for information. I tried to confuse her and claim to not be able to hear or understand her or her crazy sound effects.
She claimed to have witnesses listening in and a few times went onto Secrecy as if she was talking to someone. I just caught the end of her speaking to someone called Victoria . Eight minutes is a long time when you are talking to a psychopath who is trying every trick in the book to scare you.
In the end, she gave me an ultimatum, either (1) I get that dirty bitch (Rose who she thinks is my daughter and who is in bed) back on the phone OR (2) She would make us pay and make our leaves hell forever . I told her she was a joke and hung up.
The Police then arrived and were at our house for about an hour taking down all the details. They mentioned contacting BT Malicious Call department but surprise surprise they are not open until Monday morning, how handy. They will be able to put a trace on the line and when PB phones back (if she does) we can catch her.
All in all it was a very surreal, bizarre and slightly unsettling experience. To be in your house with that happening, dark outside and your family to look after, it made me very shaky. I couldn't sleep for a few hours and when I did eventually go back to bed at 4am, I slept the rest of the night with a hammer next to my bed. I will be purchasing a baseball bat soon. I have not really described very well what it was really like but I can assure you its not something I EVER want to repeat.
We also changed our answerphone message so it no longer says our names. We also logged onto the BT website and ordered Caller ID and cancelled 1571. Dont be surprised if we start screening calls for a while, sorry. We may also change our number and go ex-directory.

Chewing Gum Sign
These signs now appear all over the offices and toilets of my work. The toilet was closed for 3 days as well while work was carried out.

Kitty Cats
Even though we have Baby Jack, we don't want to forget about Battlecat & Chewie. They are fine, although still scared of Jack :-)
We are going to get them a new Cat Tower as a wee present. Here they are on their current (old) one:

Grandad Article
There was a nice piece in the Edinburgh News today about my Grandad. He passed away over the Christmas Holidays.
Tributes as 'concierge to the stars' dies at 77
TRIBUTES were today paid to a former concierge to the stars who has died at the age of 77.
Jim Harley, who assisted Hollywood legends such as Marlene Dietrich and Rex Harrison during his 39-year career at the city's George Hotel in George Street, passed away suddenly at his Portobello home.
Mr Harley's widow Betty today remembered him for his great sense of humour .
The 76-year-old, from Harbour Place, said: Jim was a man of few words but he was a good man.
He always took a lot of pride in his work and I think that many of the guests at the George appreciated him because he was so conscientious.
She added: His death was very unexpected but we can take comfort in the fact that he died peacefully. We will all miss him very much.
The pair met at the Edinburgh Palais on Fountainbridge in 1947 and married two years later.
They stayed on Cochrane Terrace in the Bellevue area of the Capital for about 45 years before moving to Portobello in 1994.
Mr Harley is survived by children James, 54, Liz, 53, and Frances, 51. He also had five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Speaking at the time of his retirement in 1991, Mr Harley revealed the key to his longevity at the George. Be nice to them and you'll find that everyone's nice to you, he said.
A funeral service is set to be held at 10am tomorrow at the Seafield Crematorium.
